Strains This Week

A Solid List For Everyone

Starting today, as a writing prompt, I will be showing the strains that have caught my attention in the last as well as new strains I have tried. The best way to spread the value of correct information is to give the correct information the most exposure you can. Information is key when it comes to cannabis, and my hope is that these articles give the reader; you, useful knowledge, that you can use, the next time you are about to buy cannabis products! The first strain on my list is the one that I’m now under the influence of right now, I intentionally chose this specific strain for its sense of relaxation and creativity, hoping that it would spark some great articles.

Girl Scout Cookies (Hybrid)

Girl Scout Cookies Strain

Now formally called GSC, this strain produces feelings of happiness, relaxation, and euphoria, while also being uplifting and creativity-inducing. GSC is a hybrid strain with notoriously famous parents. It’s a cross between the mega popular OG Kush and the famous sativa strain Durban Poison. Most would medically use to relieve symptoms of Stress and Depression as well as Pain. The negatives to these strains are the classics; dry mouth, and dry eyes. Personally, this strain has become a new favorite, for making me relaxed, yet productive. It produces a strong head buzz, without being too tiring or couch locking. The next strain on the list though, is infamous for couch locking, the people that try it.

Blue Dream (Hybrid)

Blue Dream Strain

This up and coming Californian strain, achieved legendary status among California strains for its unique effects. Although this hybrid, is dominantly sativa, due to its haze lineage, it produces effects like most indicas. Full body relaxation with a gentle cerebral energy. It made me feel tired but still gave me that head buzz found in most sativas. It’s like the Hannah Montana of cannabis strains, you get the best of both worlds. According to Leafly, a reputable cannabis online hub, Blue Dream produces feelings of Happiness, Relaxation, Euphoria, as well as being uplifting and creativity inducing. The next strain on the list was selected mainly for its inquisitive name.

Ace of Spades (Indica)

A gram of Cannabis

Ace of Spades is the first strain on the list that I, personally, have not tried before. Therefore the description and review for this strain are based on the chemical makeup of the strain as well as firsthand testimonies from people that actually have tried the strain. According to Leafly, This Indica strain produces strong feelings of Relaxation, Happiness, and Sleepiness, as well as having some euphoric and uplifting effects. People generally use this strain to help relieve symptoms of Insomnia, Stress, Pain, and Depression. Ace of Spades, according to accounts, not only does it give off a great body high, but produces a nice sense of alertness. People expecting to use this to go to bed, end up becoming more productive, once the strain starts to kick in. One guy expecting to fall asleep actually wound up spending 3 more hours awake doing work, he’s been pushing off. From those accounts, it’s safe to say that this strain will also help aid in productivity. The next strain however, will aid only in sleep and wild dreams.

9 Pound Hammer (Indica)

9 Pound Hammer

Another strain I have not tried, but one that I have heard much about. 9 Pound Hammer is an indica strain all the way with three specific effects dominating the experience that this earthy strain produces; Relaxation, Sleepiness, and Euphoria. Users take this when they are looking for strong relief from insomnia, stress, pain, depression, and in some extreme cases muscle spasms. After reading through online testimonies, and hearing from people who have used 9 Pound Hammer, it’s become clear that the pain-relieving properties of this strain are strong. People suffering from chronic back pain to radiation from treating leukemia, have been able to get large levels of relief. This is also a strain that is popular for treating anxiety, due to it’s relaxing nature. The next strain however is best used when you want bursts of energy and creativity!

Cracker Jack (Sativa)

Cracker Jack Sativa Strain

Cracker Jack is an intense strain most notably causing strong bouts of energy, creativity, and euphoria. Best for people looking treat symptoms relating to fatigue, as well as people looking to experience relief from pain, stress, headaches, and inflammation. It’s worth noting that some people have experienced some negatives with the strain like dry eyes, dry mouth, paranoia, headaches, and dizziness. This strain is great for people that want to have a good time and be extra social. I personally would smoke this strain before I’m about to go out in the city for the night. The last strain is a personal favorite, and I thought of no better way to round out this list, than with this strain.

Wedding Cake

someone smoking weed

Related to another strain on the list, Girl Scout Cookies, Wedding Cake produces similar feelings of happiness and euphoria, but with about 25% more THC, thus producing a more prominent head buzz. According to Leafly, Wedding Cake, produces feelings of relaxation, happiness, euphoria, as well as making the user feel more uplifted and hungry. Great for people dealing with stress, depression, pain, lack of appetite, and insomnia. I tried this in a concentrate form, which can produce a different feeling, but even so, i always had a great high with this strain. One note that I want to add is that being under a prolonged influence of this strain, tends to induce paranoia and anxiety. It’s definitely one of those strains that is not best for all-day use.

Regardless of the common effects that have been documented here, I can not stress this enough that your experience could be different. Everyone’s body is different, and cannabis will affect everyone differently. For Instance, while someone may fall asleep almost instantly on Blue Dream, others may feel giggly and energized. These descriptions are based off of the general common experience with each strain. I hope this weekly list helps narrow down your search for a strain that best suits your needs. It’s out there, just keep smoking!
